Ghyasuddin Tughlaq who captured the throne of Delhi in 1321 raised the 3rd city of Delhi by raising massive fortification of Tughlaqabad with immense circular bastions and gateways to withstand the siege of Mongols which was a recurrent phenomenon of that time.
